A Year of Prayers: June 2015

About this Blog for the SUV Calss of 2016

Following a schedule initiated in April 2015, weekly posts on this blog highlight the prayer/intention of every student in the SUV 7th grade class. Prayers and intercessions are original works of the students. Their intentions are arranged over the course of one year to coincide with the feast days of their Patron Saints (chosen in the sacrament of Confirmation). Other intentions appeal to Guardian Angels or are especially fitting on special days of recognition, as indexed in the label column to the right of the blog page.

Prayers are posted here so that they can be observed remotely with intent to grow as a spiritual community through the power of collective thought.

Saint Paul, Patron Saint of Writers, please pray for all writers so that they may be inspired, that they will be successful in their careers and provide for their families, that they may be helpful in their community, that they may please you. Saint John the Baptist (June 24)

John the Baptist cried 'Prepare the way of the Lord!' Lord, help us become a light in the darkness for all the world to see. May our lives be ever in service to you. Amen.

Many of the events in John's life are portrayed in works of art and it is his humility that typically captures the imagination of the artists. In many Mediterranean countries, the summer solstice is dedicated to St. John.
