About this Blog for the SUV Calss of 2016

Following a schedule initiated in April 2015, weekly posts on this blog highlight the prayer/intention of every student in the SUV 7th grade class. Prayers and intercessions are original works of the students. Their intentions are arranged over the course of one year to coincide with the feast days of their Patron Saints (chosen in the sacrament of Confirmation). Other intentions appeal to Guardian Angels or are especially fitting on special days of recognition, as indexed in the label column to the right of the blog page.

Prayers are posted here so that they can be observed remotely with intent to grow as a spiritual community through the power of collective thought.

Saint Isadore of Seville (April 4)

Everything we receive is given to us through God’s good grace. Dear Lord, in the spirit of St. Isadore, please help to use all of our gifts wisely and to honor You, Lord with the work that we produce, especially with computers and the internet, so that we will manage our time and selections in a way that is most pleasing to you, our Holy Father. Amen.

Meechi G.

Mid-January Letters of Acceptance / Chloe's prayer

source of card
In the spirit of Saint Teresa, teach us to serve others in the name of God. Help us make the right decisions in life and do good deeds for others.  Help those who are sick, so they may be healed. Soothe and assure those dealing with destruction in their lives, so that it may feel hope for the future. Comfort and mend the hearts of all dealing with depression or anger in their lives, so that they may become happy again. Spread all of your goodness onto others.  In the name of the loving grace of Saint Therese,  Amen.
Chloe
This week will find many in the class thinking about changes that are on the horizon-- for some there was no choice-- the path was set or it was clear.  For others, deciding on a secondary school may be a more difficult decision.  In the years ahead, all inevitably will face challenging choices in life, as well as fleeting moments that test us.  It is the compilation of small and seemingly 'inconsequential' actions that shape us every bit as much as the larger 'life altering' decisions. Situations arise that can distract us from our goals, vocations and works of charity/mercy.  St. Teresa left us with guiding words to help, especially during thorny times-- ...

"People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton (January 4)

Almost 300,000 people have died fighting for our country.  May their families and friends be comforted by our loving God.  We pray to the Lord.

          Bridget B.

The many enforced separations from dear ones by death and distance, served to draw Elizabeth's heart to God and eternity. The accepting and embracing of God's will - "The Will," as she called it - would be a keynote in her spiritual life. Elizabeth's deep concern for the spiritual welfare of her family and friends eventually led her into the Catholic Church. (Source: Catholics Online)

Mary, Mother of Christ (January 1)

We may not understand God’s plan but we should trust in him as Mary, our Mother, did. Lord, help those who are weak, poor, or sorrowful to strengthen their spirit in God as Mary showed throughout her life. Help us to trust in God’s plan and to know that He is with us through the good and the bad.  We pray to you Lord, Amen.
