About this Blog for the SUV Calss of 2016

Following a schedule initiated in April 2015, weekly posts on this blog highlight the prayer/intention of every student in the SUV 7th grade class. Prayers and intercessions are original works of the students. Their intentions are arranged over the course of one year to coincide with the feast days of their Patron Saints (chosen in the sacrament of Confirmation). Other intentions appeal to Guardian Angels or are especially fitting on special days of recognition, as indexed in the label column to the right of the blog page.

Prayers are posted here so that they can be observed remotely with intent to grow as a spiritual community through the power of collective thought.

Saint Sebastian (January 20)

St. Sebastian, martyr and follower of Jesus, intercede for us and carry our prayers to the Lord.  We pray that we have your courage and willingness to serve Jesus Christ.  You so bravely died for Him, and we ask, in Jesus’ name, for the same courage to be given to us.  Amen.

In the spirit of Saint Sebastian, help us to stay mindful of other people and to be kind to them. Let us pray for those who are homeless and hungry that they may receive food and have a roof over their heads. Watch over those that are seriously ill and help scientist to find a cure for their harmful diseases.  Loving and gracious God, we stand in your eternal light hear this prayer offered you today.

Saint Sebastian, Patron Saint of Athletes, please protect all athletes from injury so that they may keep the skill that they have and that they will keep their jobs in times of hardship. In this time, we pray to you Lord, Amen.
