About this Blog for the SUV Calss of 2016

Following a schedule initiated in April 2015, weekly posts on this blog highlight the prayer/intention of every student in the SUV 7th grade class. Prayers and intercessions are original works of the students. Their intentions are arranged over the course of one year to coincide with the feast days of their Patron Saints (chosen in the sacrament of Confirmation). Other intentions appeal to Guardian Angels or are especially fitting on special days of recognition, as indexed in the label column to the right of the blog page.

Prayers are posted here so that they can be observed remotely with intent to grow as a spiritual community through the power of collective thought.

Saint Francis of Assisi (Oct. 4)

Saint Francis of Assisi, so willingly you gave up everything you owned to dedicate your life to God. Please help all people see what truly matters is not obtaining wealth or fame. Help us to realize the most important things in our lives are the people who surround us and that we should dedicate every breath we take to the Almighty Father. Guide us to be leaders among others and spread the word of God, help others to guide those who are lost and stray from the right path. As we seek the strength you found when giving up all that you owned to preach and give your life to God as well as others, we pray to you and God our Almighty Father, Amen.

Prayer of Francis / Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
